Bardessono Hotel 6526 Yount Street Yountville, CA 94599
Close your eyes and imagine the most tranquil surroundings you can think of. The sun is warming your skin, the air is crisp with a calm, calm breeze, and the sounds all around you stop - if just for a moment - as you take in another breath. This captures just a snippet of my blissful Sunday with Napa Valley's Bardessono Hotel.
I've been to Napa twice before, but neither visit allowed me to experience the beauty of Napa's wineries or relaxing hotels. I sometimes have to kick myself for not leaving San Francisco as often as I could. Considering Napa is just an hour away, driving, there's really no excuse not to get out of the city, even if it's just for a day. So, when I was invited to experience Napa with Bardessono, there was no way I could say no. It was the perfect excuse for the long-awaited day trip I had dreamt of taking.
When I arrived at Bardessono, I was quickly greeted by the complimentary valet's polite staff and was then welcomed with a glass of wine from a local winery once I checked in with the reception staff. How's that for a first impression? I took a seat by the fire place, sipped my delicious chardonay and was ready for what was to come. After a quick tour of the beautiful 62-room property, I started preparing for my first spa treatment. Before we get to the details on the treatment itself, I must say this because it rings true in my beliefs - if you're going to do something for the first time, you must do it right. Don't skimp and certainly do not settle. Now, having said that, I must assure you that my first-ever massage was nothing short of magical. I received an hour-long swedish massage treatment and savored. every. minute. My massage therapist, Sara, was polite, attentive, and amazing. I appreciated many of the little details of my treatment - the heated pads, the warm towels, the soothing essential oils, the calming music - all of it was perfect and very well worth it. I left my massage feeling more relaxed than I'd felt in a very long time.
After my massage, it was time for lunch at the Lucy Restaurant and Bar, which you can read about in more detail, here. After a long and delicious meal, I decided to extend my relaxation period by lounging by the pool. The weather was ideal for a rest under cabana, so I sprawled out for a good hour. When the sun finally started to set, I knew it was time to bid adieu. When I proceeded to say my goodbyes to the front desk for their exceptional service and headed out to the valet to retrieve my car, I was once again impressed when the valet driver remembered my name and my car. It's the little things I tell you. I left Bardessono feeling as though I had spent a weekend away on vacation. I absolutely cannot wait to return for another trip to Napa Valley - next time around I'm definitely staying the full weekend and won't even have to think twice about where I'm booking my stay.
Thanks so much to Bardessono for such a warm welcome and wonderful Sunday out of the city.
