Chambers Eat + Drink 601 Eddy Street
Aww yeah, you know what time it is. Food Friday, y'all! This week, we're talking about my favorite meal time of the day - brunch! When I think of brunch, I inherently think of runny eggs, mouthwatering bacon and copious amounts of refreshing o.j. - or mimosas...or bloody mary's... whatever it is that floats your beverage boat. This Food Friday post is kind of different than the norm, in the sense that I didn't visit chambers solely for the food. I am super excited to "officially" announce that I have teamed up with MAC Cosmetics and will be sharing a few beauty-related snippets with you all here and there! The MAC team was so gracious and took us out to Chambers before we toured the new flagship MAC Pro Store later that day. We'll get into more about the new store and the details of my partnership in an upcoming post, but for now on to the food!
If you're a city guy or gal, then you've undoubtedly heard of Chambers. It's a hip and happenin' spot in the TL, where you can grab drinks at their "Be Amazing" bar, or grab bites during the day or evening. I've been to Chambers a handful of times before for other events, but I've always kept to the bar area and never had a chance to check out their brunch offerings. So, I was pretty excited when I found out I'd be starting off my day with MAC here.
The atmosphere is cool and retro-hip - from vinyl records filling the shelves to updated diner-like seating of sorts, the space is one part hipster paradise, another part foodie dreamland. Whenever I go out for brunch, 98% of the time I will order an egg dish of some sort. In fact, I almost never order pancakes while I'm out. (I know, I know, but come on guys, I like to make 'em at home!) I ordered the Eggs Royale (two sous vide eggs, crispy hash browns, cold smoked salmon, mandarin hollandaise, caviar, chive, and dill), which is their take on Eggs Benedict. The eggs were perfect - runny just the way I like them. The salmon was fresh and the hashbrowns were crispy enough to support my runny eggs and hollandaise. We also ordered the Souffle Pancake dish (apple chutney, maple ice cream, and membrillo). Wasn't my favorite things in the world, but I guess you can say I'm particular about my pancakes. It was really souffléd: a cake-like consistency that's good as a dessert, but I wasn't sold on it as a breakfast item.
Overall, Chambers was a charming spot to have brunch. My food was great, but I think it was the atmosphere that made it even better. Should you decide to dine here, do be sure to make a reservation. People were already lined up and ready to go before the doors opened at 10:30AM!
Stay tuned for my next post, in which I'll talk more about the new MAC Pro Store and more! Can't wait :)
