There aren't very many moments in life in which I go around wearing a cupcake-sized tutu around the neighborhood just for the hell of it. So you better believe that when I DO do it, I'm gonna do it right.
Alyssa Nicole Custom Tutu
Photos by: Melissa de Mata
As a part of my website redesign, I wanted to take a series of photos that could best capture my personality and the aesthetic behind my blog. For the first set of photos, I worked with none other than Melissa de Mata, who time and time again, has always managed to capture my spirit and leave me floored by her work. We traveled to Hayes Valley, where I knew I would be able to do my tutu justice. I've shot in Hayes many times before, but this time around it was as if the stars had aligned. I mean, it's not often that you're wearing a custom-made tutu and an old school car is parked RIGHT in front of a pink wall waiting for you to use it. AM I RIGHT? It was a frigid cold day, the wind was blowing, my skirt was flying, but we managed to get some pretty neat shots.
The skirt, was custom-made for me, by Alyssa Nicole. Alyssa made it knowing that all I wanted to do was shoot in a tutu to celebrate the launch of my new site. I think her work speaks for itself, but just in case you also need me to say it, the skirt is pretty darn amazing. You'll see it two more times, in my three-part set with Melissa. This is set one, so do stay tuned for sets two and three.
The shot with the wind blowing you skirt is too perfect!
